The ASA Section on Statistical Education is piloting a new alternative to roundtable discussions at JSM 2018 in Vancouver, July 28 - August 2. The Stat Ed Booth will be hosting free Birds of a Feather themed discussions at 12:30-1:30pm and 4:00-5:00pm Monday-Wednesday of JSM. The moderator and participants will meet at the Stat Ed Booth, then move to a location of the group’s choice for the discussion (e.g., tables in the exhibit hall, nearby restaurant or hotel lobby). The Stat Ed Section will provide suggested discussion locations. For the lunch-time discussions, participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch.

We are currently soliciting moderators and topic proposals for our 2018 JSM Birds of a Feather discussions. If you would like to serve as a moderator, please email the following information to Stacey Hancock (JSM 2019 Program Chair) at stacey.hancock@montana.edu:

  1. Your name, email, and affiliation;

  2. Title and short (~50-100 word) description of your proposed theme;

  3. Available times (12:30-1:30pm or 4:00-5:00pm) and days (Mon, Tue, Wed).

We will start reviewing proposals on March 1, after which moderators will be chosen and notified.

If you have any questions or other suggestions, please email Stacey.

Looking forward to many insightful and inspiring discussions at this year’s JSM!
