JSM 2019, Denver CO

Can you believe it? JSM2019 gets underway in Denver, CO in less than 1 month!

What does the Section on Statistics and Data Science Education have in store?

  • Introductory Overview Lecture: Pedagogy and Technology for Teaching Statistics, Wednesday 8:30-10:20am CC-Four Seasons I. (though not technically sponsored by the Section, I think it hard to argue this isn't part of our program).

  • SPEED sessions – there are some really good talks in SPEED format this year. As it happens, most were submitted as regular-length talks, but we changed them to SPEED. Monday 8:30-10:20am in CC-502 for the presentations; 11:35am-12:20pm in CC-Hall C for the posters.

  • We have a couple of great Roundtables scheduled for an added fee which includes food & beverages. Signing up for a roundtable helps support the Section's activities.

  • Stats for Data Science, Tuesday 12:30-1:30pm H-Centennial Ballroom G-H

  • Reforming the Teaching and Conception of Quantitative Methods in Applied Research using Evidence-Based Teaching, Wednesday 7:00-8:15 am H-Centennial Ballroom G-H.

  • Multiple Birds of a Feather sessions on interesting topics, Monday-Wednesday 12:30-1:30pm and 4:00-5:00pm, meet at Statistics Education/History Booth.

  • Invited Panel “Building Bridges for Data Science Education” is a collaboration between statistics and computer science faculty. Tuesday 2:00-3:50pm in CC-603.

  • Mixer & Business Meeting is open to all. Come and hear what the Section is up to! Wednesday 6:00-7:30pm in H-Centennial Ballroom C.

We look forward to seeing you in Denver!
